Pink-slip party in White Plains Jan 13th
Westchester's First Pink Slip Party to Help Professional and Financial Services Job-Seekers Get Career Fit in 2009
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter is hosting a "Pink Slip Party" for professional and financial services on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Vintage Bar & Restaurant, 171 Main Street, White Plains, NY. Benefiting the chapter's Team In Training (TNT) program, the evening will provide a unique opportunity for job seekers to get "Career Fit" professionally by networking with tri-state area recruiters and their peers, as well as physically by learning about the TNT endurance sports training program. Attendees can also celebrate the beginning of a new year with featured drink specials and festive bar fare. The event is being sponsored by the John Devine Allstate Agency (Bronxville, NY). A $10 donation to LLS will be collected at the door.
Recruiters from throughout the New York Metropolitan area will be attending, along with Diane Spizzirro, Executive Career Development Counselor/Coach from Success Image Career Counseling in Larchmont. Diane is a member of The International Association of Career Management Professionals and the Westchester Career Counselors Association. As a trainer of the Success Image Training Courses and the Dale Carnegie Effective Speaking and Sales Courses, Diane has coached individual clients in improving their interview and presentation skills for over ten years.
LLS staff will also be available during the event with information on how to get involved with TNT in 2009, whether by training for an event, coaching, or mentoring. For more than 20 years, over 360,000 people, from beginners to seasoned athletes, have trained with TNT to run or walk a full or half-marathon, complete a 100-mile bike ride or a triathlon. As they receive free training from experienced, dedicated coaches, TNT participants raise funds to support LLS's mission to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. This year's schedule of TNT events includes both national and local events, such as: the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in San Diego, CA on May 31; America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride in Lake Tahoe on June 7; The Orange Classic 10K Run in Middletown, NY on June 14; and the Wyckoff-Franklin Lakes Triathlon in Wyckoff, NJ on June 20.
"Our goal with this event is to help build lasting professional relationships in our local community," remarked Diandra Kodl, Deputy Executive Director of LLS's Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter. "We also hope that by learning more about TNT, job seekers will take advantage of the opportunity to set new personal goals with their peers, and experience the satisfaction of helping others along the way." LLS is still welcoming recruiters, sponsors, job-seekers, and all companies who are hiring to attend the Westchester Pink Slip Party. RSVP's are highly recommended in advance. Those interesting in attending and/or sponsoring should contact Diandra Kodl at 914.949.0084, ext. 8993; or email her at diandra.kodl@lls.org.
